September 12, 2012 - 4 minutes read

In case it isn’t obvious, we love the restaurant industry – so we wanted to give our fellow foodies a hand in selecting five must-have food apps for the iPhone. We’ve selected five of our favorites to help you find recipes, make cocktails and drinks and find the best restaurants and bars in your city!

Real Simple Recipes (@realsimplefood) – Got 30 minutes to make dinner? How about 20 minutes? That’s no issue for Real Simple’s No Time to Cook? iPhone app that beautifully breaks down dinner recipes by six food categories as well as the available time you have to cook. When I searched for 20 minutes to make a seafood dinner, I came up with 95 available meals to try! Not bad right? This app costs $4.99 but most definitely worth it for those that still love to cook, even with only 30 minutes on their plate.

No Time To Cook?

Liquor Cabinet (@lavacadostudios) – Learn how to make a Big Apple Manhattan or a Bourbon Slow Gin Fizz with this retro style and easy-to-use iPhone app. With a huge library of drink options, you’ll find a variety of cocktails and drinks you’ve never even heard of! Also enjoy your own tiny liquor cabinet where you can virtually experiment with liquors and mixers to see what drinks, cocktails and shooters you might enjoy. Pick this app up for only $.99.

UrbanSpoon (@urbanspoon) – There’s good reason that Urbanspoon is one of the most talked about foodie apps out there. Not only is it completely free, but it combines reviews of restaurants from critics, food bloggers and friends all into one app. You can discover a new place to eat based on blogger and critic referrals, the type of cuisine you’re craving and the price you want to pay. You can also search for a new restaurant based on a nearby search, or simply shake your iPhone and watch as your new mystery dinner destination appears on your screen.

It can also search for recipes based on category (breakfast, lunch, dinner ) or with keywords such as spicy, etc. View random recipes as well as what’s cooking around you! Another boring dinner night will be impossible with this great must-have foodie app.

OpenTable (@opentable) – Making reservations on the fly has become even simpler with OpenTable’s iPhone app making this another must-have app for every foodie out there.
